Vale John Medland
The Club is saddened to learn of the recent passing of John Medland (age 78). A prolific junior for the Club, he graduated to grade cricket at the age of 16 in 1961-62. After captaining PGs in 1962-63 he was rewarded through a series of outstanding performances with the bat in 2nds with selection in 1st grade (NS player#392) in 1964-65. Over a grade career at Norths that spanned 18 seasons he played over 60 1st grade games with a top score of 97 as well as captaining 2nd grade on many occasions. After his playing retirement John became assistant coach for NSW. His thoughtful approach to the game was appreciated by all around him and was a pleasure to catch up with him at a reunion in 2019. Our condolences to his family.
