Ben Knox Captures 100 NSW Premier Cricket Wickets

Ben Knox has passed the significant milestone of 100 NSW Premier Cricket wickets – all taken as a Bear.

Ben joined the club in 2015/16 and immediately impressed with his accurate leg-spin delivered from a diminutive height. The following pre-season he demonstrated his athletic prowess, blitzing his Green Shield teammates in the beep test and 2km time trials, before he worked his way up the grades to make his third grade debut while still Green Shield age.

In 2017/18, Ben began his run of stellar Poidevin-Gray Shield form, flummoxing a highly touted Campbelltown Ghosts line-up that included future English test bat, Olly Pope, on his way to 5/22. It was this short-form excellence that led to Ben becoming the club’s 672nd first grade cap against St George last season.

Ben was also a crucial member of the 2019/20 Poidevin-Gray Shield team’s run to the grand final. His ability to bowl tightly through the middle overs while still capturing crucial wickets set-up multiple wins during the season. The most memorable highlight, however, was his flying, one-handed overhead catch that set the team on its path to victory in the Preliminary Final against Gordon.

Ben is also a favourite team-mate. His positivity and energetic approach to cricket have served him well on the path to his first hundred wickets.
