Representative Bears Aplenty

Campbell 5th wkt 1

Last week saw a sleuth of Bears called up for higher representative honours. First grade captain, Justin Avendano, UTS North Sydney lynchpin, James Campbell and ACT-based Bear, Daniel Leerdam, have all suited up in the state second XI match at Blacktown this week, while young Brewer Shield tearaway, Amelia Sim, won selection in the NSW Metro squad for the national U15 championships early in 2020.

It has been a long time between drinks for Jimmy Campbell (pictured), having last played in the state second XI competition as a raw-boned young quick in 2012. Since then James has developed into a master of his craft, having earned his recall through consistent, and intelligent, performances over the past three seasons.

Justin has been a regular in the ACT/NSW Country side over the last three seasons, averaging 46 and performing consistently. Daniel makes his eighth appearance in the ACT/NSW Country side this week and played his breakthrough innings of 85 in his side’s first dig.

Foundation Brewer Shield team member, Amelia Sim, has been involved in representative squads for the past few seasons, having impressed selectors with her sharp pace. Her selection for February/March’s national championship is a terrific achievement for one of UTS North Sydney’s most talented young cricketers.
