Bears in the UK - 2019

The 2019 UK cricket season is underway and a slew of Bears are plying their trade in leagues across the country.

2018/19 NSW Premier Cricket merit team member, Tom Jagot, has had a strong start at Burwell and Exning CC in the East Anglia Premier League. Tom started the season with 3 straight half centuries, two of which came a quicker than a run a ball.

In the Cheshire County Cricket League, Olly Knight has found his stride quickly for Grappenhall CC. Olly has picked up consecutive 4 wicket hauls in the past two league matches on top of a rapid fire 67 in a midweek T20 league victory for the Grappers.

James Crosthwaite started his stint with Camberley CC in Surrey with a dominant 112 in a pre-season victory over Ashtead. James immediately followed that performance with a match-winning 60 not out against Leatherhead in round 1 of the league.

The Bears’ two adopted Lancastrians, Toby Lester and George Lavelle, have both started in Lancs’ second XI, with George captaining in the early season rounds. In league cricket, George’s Ormskirk CC took on Toby’s Lytham CC. George’s side took the victory but Toby claimed bragging rights with the willow, knocking up 33 to George’s duck. George’s form has been strong, however, collecting a league hundred and a brace of cup half centuries in the early rounds.

Finally, four season English Bear, Jake Lintott, has started the season strongly with the ball, both for his club side Clevedon CC, and for Wiltshire in the Minor Counties competition. The highlight of Jake's early season performances was a dominant spell of 4/18 against Cornwall.
