Bears bid farewell to Declan

It is with heavy hearts that the Bears bid farewell to two-time clubman of the year, Declan Hoare.

Declan’s contribution to the club goes beyond his 100 wickets and 1000 runs. Since he came to the club from Nyngan in 2013, Declan has been the Bear you want in your dressing room, working with you at training or having a beer with you at the end of a day’s cricket.

Declan had worked his way up from fourth grade to first by 2016, earning cap number 654.  Declan showed his fighting spirit against Gordon in 2016/17 when, batting 11, he and Rob Aitken denied the rampant Mason Crane for over two hours to add 86 for the last wicket. Declan then chipped away 3 wickets to help 1s to a strong win.

The following round Declan repeated the dose, adding 59 for the last wicket with Toby Lester then taking a brace of wickets cheaply to help down Blacktown.

Declan played every game hard and gave no quarter. Everyone at UTS North Sydney wishes Declan well running the farm and terrorising young, up-and-coming batsmen in central NSW.
