Avendano flies past 4000

First grade captain, Justin Avendano, hit his 4000th first grade run during his match-winning unbeaten knock of 126 against Western Suburbs on Sunday.

Justin has now compiled 4102 runs at 34.47 in the top grade, 4100 of those coming after he joined the Bears in 2012/13. He is just the 20th Bear in the club’s 125 years in grade cricket to pass the 4000 first grade runs milestone. He is also approaching his 7000th run in all NSW Premier Cricket, with his total currently sitting on 6888.

Justin has played a slew of remarkable innings for the club. His 176 against Manly-Warringah in in 2016/17 was part of a club-record, 303-run third wicket partnership with Anjan Oberai, and formed the backbone of a record-shattering chase of 444.

His top score of 190 also came in a mammoth run chase as his side fell just short of Penrith’s total of 362. Against the same opposition in last year’s rain-affected semi-final Justin smashed an undefeated 143 to give his side a chance in a shortened game.

All in all, Justin has struck eight first grade centuries for UTS North Sydney and his latest came as he tunes up for another BBL season with the Sydney Sixers.
