CoachingA Plan For SuccessEverybody wants to have a successful season. Unless you have a plan, it will be more good luck than good management if you succeed. You need to set a target for success for the season to help you keep focused and do the necessary work. It is important that you have an idea about what constitutes a successful season for you personally. A batsman who scored 350 runs last season may set a goal of 500 for this season, a bowler who took 30 wickets may go for 40 this season and a keeper with 20 dismissals last season may target 30 for this season. Figures such as 500 runs 40 wickets or 30 dismissals may seem quite daunting if you have never achieved at that level before. Break your season goals down to match goals. Then break your match goals down to innings goals. Once you have done this then it is very important to break those goals down to session goals. These goals will then depend on such things as wicket conditions, the game situation and the quality of the opposition. You can now break your session goals down into goals per over and the process will start to seem much simpler. The clearer the goal is in your mind, the easier it is to achieve. The final step is to break your goals down to ball by ball. Anyone can concentrate for one ball. The secret is to do it over and over. If you can play your season one ball at a time, you will have a plan for success. |
